A shear/alignment connection typically used in 2-inch field-topped double tees

Typically used in field-topped double tee flanges and wall panels; available in both J-Finish or stainless steel.   Various size blockouts are available for flexible installation – 1/4″, 3/4″, 1″ inch, or flush. 

  • Available in 201L stainless steel and high strength low alloy carbon steel with J-Finish
  • Available with an angled faceplate (tipped 10 degrees) or squared faceplate (height = 1 inch)

Overview

In 2001, three years after the release of the Vector Connector for 4-inch minimum pre-topped double tees and wall panels, we initiated another search for  state-of-the-art shear/alignment connections for connecting 2-inch field-topped double tees and wall panels. Once again, finding virtually no testing data and only one standard connection on the market, we invented a new shear/alignment connector – the MINI-V SHEAR CONNECTOR.

Rigorous testing at the University of Wisconsin School of Engineering testing lab yielded dramatic results. The results obtained were extremely consistent and the ultimate values were higher than anticipated. The MINI-V SHEAR CONNECTOR offers a level of documented performance and consistency that – prior to its invention – was simply not available.

Overview

In 1998, in response to feedback from the precast industry, JVI initiated a search of the state-of-the-art in flange connections (A flange connector is an anchored weld plate in the flange of a double tee used to connect double tees within a structure). Finding virtually no testing data and only one standard connection on the market, JVI invented a new flange connector – the VECTOR CONNECTOR.

Rigorous testing at the University of Wisconsin School of Engineering testing lab yielded dramatic results. The tension and shear values obtained were vastly superior to other connectors tested. Subsequent tests by separate precast producers in their own plants have confirmed these values. To date, more than 12 million vector connectors are in service in precast products throughout the world.
